Cougars Dazzle In The October Sun

This week the young Cumnock Cougars P5 team were playing an away fixture at Whitcraigs RFC We began the day with a gentle warm up so as not to tyre the team out as we were all very raring to go. With our largest ever squad we were able to field 2 fantastic teams full of talent. With a fire burning inside the brave kids of all teams we really worked hard and battled against our tough adversaries to ensure that each team knew we did not intend for anything other than victory to be the way of the day.

Match 1: Cumnock Red 7 – 5 Whitecraigs (A)
Whitecraigs kicked off the day in great style against our Red team and as has been the case each week it was a fantastic competition from start to finish. Danny opened up the days scoring with a very quick try was to be the first of a many for the day. Our constant defending prowess really shone through in this match as throughout the entire day. This led to further tries from Aaron, Neil, Ross and Euan M to prove that the P5s were here to establish a fantastic start to the day. The defensive line really was proving the match winner though with Kyran, Charlie and Jack showing that no matter who our opponents were we would defy all who come before us.

Match 2: Cumnock Black 7 – 5 Whitecraigs (B)
Again, we started match 2 very well however a so did Whitecraigs. This did not unsettle our young heroes and the slick defence from Cara, Stuart and Ewan were able to get us back on track and stop what may have become a very different match than what we intended. Encouraged by this amazing show of strength tries from Adam K, Harvey, Jake and an amazing 4 from Alfie really kept the forward momentum going whilst Whitecraigs battled hard to get even the slightest forward movement.

Match 3: Cumnock Red 8 – 1 Whitecraigs (B)
Our 3rd match was an absolutely dominant performance and really showed our flair for chasing each and every ball. Despite a stalwart defence from our opponents we were shown that it will take something very special to defend like we do. Our current squad has a significant number of lesser experienced players however not one of them could be spotted on our field of battle as all worked together to bring home another victory with tries from Aaron, Neil, Ross & Danny. Again though our constant pressure was the defining strategy and Euan M, Charlie, Jack & Kyran really made it an amazing show of strength.

Match 4: Cumnock Black 6 – 3 Whitecraigs (A)
Our final game of the fixture was again another thriller. Spurred on by our first 3 matches our young heroes began this game at an enormous rate. Tries came thick and fast from Stuart, Ross, Alfie & Jake meaning Whitecraigs would not be able to capitalise on the slightest error. Added to this an awe inspiring defence headed by our amazing debutant Cara, Adam K, Jake and Ewan were again able to prevent most of the advances of the attackers. Jake battled hard as he picked up a few bumps and bruises but he was helped on by a very supportive squad who stepped up to spur him on and with Ross filling his boots as he came off everyone thanked him for his moment of sparkles that he

Overall Score: Cumnock 28 – 16 Whitecraigs

Dream Team: Euan M, Ross, Danny, Jack, Neil, Aaron, Kyran, Charlie, Stuart, Alfie, Cara, Harvey, Jake, Adam K & Ewan.
